  • Installation of Three SPM Systems (single point mooring systems) Capable of Receiving and Loading VLCC Tankers

  • Fabrication and Installation of a 600MT Subsea Valve Manifold

  • Dredging Works to Achieve Pipeline Trenching and Sufficient Water Depth for VLCC Mooring

  • Installation of Subsea Fibre Optic Cables and Composite Power Fibre Optic Cables

  • Full Commissioning and Initial Operation Responsibilities

SERS successfully managed the crucial part of the project from 2011 to 2012, supervised and inspected four latest offshore constructions and pipe lay vessels: the Leighton Eclipse, Leighton Stealth, Leighton Mynx, Leighton Oranda to complete the mission and to achieve the Client’s fast-track schedule.

 Tanzania SPM Replacement Project

The Tanzania SPM Replacement Project has been designed to replace old crude oil discharging terminal with a new dual pipeline single point mooring system. SERS Group was engaged as the sole subsea service provider, technical consultant and labour supplier. The project was located South East of the Port of Dar Es Salaam harbour entrance channel and comprised the development up to and including pre commissioning and delivery of an offshore terminal for the import of crude oil and white products capable of mooring tankers in the range of 40KDWT to 150 KDWT. The key elements of the works were:

  • Project Management, Design, Engineering, Procurement & Construction

  • Met Ocean StudySite Surveys

  • Fabrication and Installation of SPM System

  • Procurement and Installation of Offshore Pipelines

  • Procurement and Installation of Onshore Pipelines

  • Testing and Pre-commissioning of the System

  • Decommissioning of existing SPM System

  • Removal of Existing Onshore Pipeline

  • Decommissioning of Subsea Structure and Pipeline

The pipeline diameters were 48-inch for the crude line and 24-inch for the white product line, with indicative onshore and offshore lengths of 4.5 km and 4 km respectively. A stringing yard was set up at the landfall point and pipe strings was pulled offshore by bottom pull method with a linear winch set up on Leighton Mynx work barge. A key challenge to the installation of pipeline was trenching through intertidal zone and crossing the reef at approximately 2 km away from the beach. SERS has successfully completed the project with client’s satisfaction.
